This song, composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal ( they had composed the earlier “Chitthi” song as well) was sung by Pankaj Udhas, And Pankaj Udhas to this date is known for this particular song.Īnand Bakshi wrote the lyrics and I think that it is his lyrics that is the secret behind the huge popularity of this song. This song ” chitthi aayi hai watan se chitthi aayi hai” from “Naam” (1986) touched the heart strings of the listeners as no chitthi song had ever done before. The song “daakiya daak laaya” from a 1977 movie called “Palkon ki chhaon mein” was quite a popular “chitthi” song, before it was upstaged by another song of this genre. ![]() I have posted one such song from 1970s viz. “Chitthi” songs, viz songs where one feels nostalgic about one’s loved ones and waits for “chitthi” from them makes for some of the best and most memorable songs.
